Prince Charming on Special K Every girl wishes for that knight in shining amour, the one who will take a moonlight walk with her on the beach while holding her hand and kiss her in the rain; that guy who will lie under the stars with her for hours, but will only be staring at her. No matter how hard a girl may try, it almost seems hopeless. Chivalry has been said to be dead, but at the same time, there are rare stories of men who really can and do step up to the challenge. The question is; how can one manage to luck into a relationship that seems to be going that strong?
A relationship like that isn’t easy and they most definitely don’t come that way; you have work with that person every day, and if you really want it to work, you have to take the good with the bad. The key again to getting a relationship to that point is communication. Once communication has been established and becomes strong, trust will be gained and understanding that person there on in should come naturally. Always get to know people, trust and communication can be built that way and becoming friends first is better than just jumping into things, because sometimes that can lead to sticky situations, and that way in the end there is always the option that if things don’t work out maybe someday friends could seem like a good option.
Understanding each other, not just as a person, but what shapes the person your slowly falling in love with into who they are today. Past experiences, memories, and opinions on life can all attribute to how a person shapes up. Sometimes their not willing to share these things and it may take a lot of patience and work, but in the end, when the truth does eventually come out and you two begin to piece things together one story at a time, it will all be worth it.
If you do end up with a bad guy, you have to be strong and figure out if that person is really right for you. Because sometimes their not and at the end of the day breaking it off with them is so much better for your health than waiting for that glimpse of the guy you thought you knew. Never make someone number one in your life when your second best in theirs; and if the guy acts like that he doesn’t care and just wants to play his video games, let him play. One day he wont have that video game anymore and he’ll realize how bad he screwed up and how much he misses her; and she can’t wait around for that day, because sometimes it may never come.
Meanwhile, there are some girls who feel on top of the world because in their opinion, they have the ‘best boyfriend ever’. Nothing he does ever seems to be wrong, but when he does slip up he’s at her door with a bouquet of flowers. The emotions that come from a good relationship are nothing but positive, and when a girl has a inflow of good vibes and feelings, there’s nothing that she feel like she can’t do, and everything around her if affected by it, but not in a bad way.
It may take a week, maybe a couple of months, or maybe even a year, but someday all relationships with the right guy do become healthy.They might start healthy or even finish healthy, but someday that romantic walk on the beach or night under the stars will happen. But again healthy relationships take lots of work, and as well as having communication, trust, and understanding, the feelings have to be there as well as patience. In order for things to work, both people in the relationship have to have patience with each other and be able to help each other out. If there is a problem that needs to be addressed or if your partner feels like there is something off, then you can help them by being open for discussion and be ready to solve whatever comes your way. By being open and ready for the good and the bad, whatever comes your way will feel like it was all worth it the minute you and your partner set foot on that beach.
The Break-Up There are many reasons why people break up; maybe their feelings disappeared, the couple fought all the time, or one person saw college as their way out. But regardless of how many thousands of different reasons are given for why a couple breaks up, there are many trends in these excuses that people have come to notice. Then again, maybe it does all come down to that person’s feelings really did go away.
Some people choose to run away from their responsibilities in the relationship, but drag their significant other along anyway and pretend that everything is fine, when really, things are much worse then they are letting on. Sometimes peoples feelings are masked by things that occurred in the relationship recently that really made them upset. So they try their very hardest to push that person away and hope that they never cross their mind again. But of course, when sitting in silence, what else is there to think about?
Other relationships end because one of the two people in the relationship chooses to finally show the real them, and becomes violent and/or abusive, which can include cheating on him or her. Never listen when your significant other tells you it’s a one time thing, because chances are it’s not or they cheat multiple times, but with one person.
Also, no one should ever walk into a relationship and try to fix everything. Your significant other should want to fix those qualities themselves or if they don’t, just get up and leave. No one deserves to be dragged around by someone who cares more about a video game then about their relationship. There are many other fish in the sea who would be more than happy to take that lazy person’s place.
The one key part that makes or breaks a relationship is communication. If there is no communication, then there is no understanding or trust. When there is no understanding, fights will inevitably ensue and hearts will be broken. If there is no trust, then the relationship shouldn’t even be alive. Sometimes though, things can be talked about to prevent what seems like an inevitable breakup. If your significant other did something that really hurt you, don’t just mask your emotions and lie to them about not wanting to be with them anymore, let them know. Tell them that it really offended you and that you don’t know what else to do. Again, communication can solve most problems and keep relationships alive.
Other times though, the problems aren’t so easy to solve, and all the communication in the world won’t get you anywhere. When it comes to cheating and abuse, there is no excuse for that, no words to make it all better, because at the end of the day, you’re the one stuck with those images in your head, and you’re the one that has to live with it. But you have to choice to either move on from that person in hopes that things will get better, or stick it out. In the end, it all depends on the feelings that you still have left for that person, if any are left at all.

But girls can’t let a boy get them down. Because there are many other things that they have yet to experience and with those experiences come many other fish in the sea that we call the world. It may feel like there is no hope at that time, but once High School is over, some girls will be moving away and living on a campus where thousands of boys live as well. New boys, boys that are just as nervous and have had some of the same experiences and heartbreaks as they have had; and just like some girls, those guys are looking to start fresh and forget as well.
For now, girls should hold off on buying the pints of Cherry Garcia and popping in The Notebook DVD, because even though it may seem like it’s the end of the world now, girls, especially ones in their senior year of high school, and just months from entering some of the best years of their lives. And no boy should be able to hold them back from being who they we’re before them.
Saying Goodbye There is never a perfect way or a right time to say goodbye; but the one definite thing about saying goodbye, is that it eventually becomes inevitable. There comes a time in a girls life when everything around her starts to change, and saying goodbye is the only way she has a chance to explore these changes. One of those changes might be leaving a long-term love behind. Another one of those changes might be taking that relationship with her to freshman orientation and then to meet her roommate in college.
Let’s take a look at both points of views.
One girl might feel like she has to break things off with her boyfriend back home because he could hold her back from going to the great parties and talking to the cute guy on the opposite side of the room, trying out for the fall play because she wont have as much time to talk to him, or from studying abroad in Egypt with her roommate because then she’ll be an ocean or two away from him. Bottom line, she may feel that the guy, no matter how sweet or attractive or how long they have been dating, will hold her back from so many opportunities she’ll have and from experiencing the “real” college life. Even though she may really love him and care about him deeply, there’s no escaping the deepest thoughts that run through her head every night before she falls asleep.
On the other hand, there are some girls who try to make their relationships work; whether the couple ends up going to the same college, colleges thousands of miles and many states apart from each other, or if one person stays behind and goes to community college. Her thought process could be that she didn’t want something so good to end for such a minor reason, in her opinion, or that they’ve been dating for so long that it would be a shame to throw it all away just because of college. Whatever reason it ended up being, there are many ways to keep a relationship alive; whether its by scheduling Skype dates, calling each other at night, texting throughout the day, visiting each other, or any combination of those; the bottom line is that the relationship can and will work, just as long as the other person would like it to work as well.
Although it might seem like the last thing you may want to think about at the moment, if you don’t figure it out now the thought may be floating around your head and bothering you for months before you get if off your chest. Always be honest with the person your with and don’t bead around the bush just to protect their feelings; lay it out plain and simple for them. If you want to work things out and not say goodbye this upcoming fall, there are many ways of making it feel like you two are on two separate extended vacations. If you feel like things are better off being apart; don’t string the guy along. You need to sit him down and tell him how you feel; because if the roles were reversed you wouldn’t want him to be lying to you about exactly why he feels the way he does. You can always still love him and care for him, but just explain that there are opportunities that you’re afraid you might miss and you feel like your relationship might hold you back from these.
With whatever decision is made; it’s not going to be easy. Getting over someone, as well as being in love with someone over thousands of miles away are both pretty difficult things to do. But at the same time, you’re entering the best atmosphere that a girl could ever ask for. You’ll be able to find comfort within your roommates, be distracted by the various clubs and sports that you’ll have the opportunity to participate in, focus on school work in an environment he’s never been to before, and the best part of it all, is that you’ll never be alone. I know it may seem hard now, but things will look up and that cute guy from the party you went to last week may just walk your way and say hello.
